Medical Market

Currently there are few products in the medical field that
provide accurate point of care results. Most testing
involves time consuming and costly methods such as NAAT/PCR. The
NAAT/PCR test is based on the replication of DNA. However,
this testing is flawed. NAAT/PCR is affected by inhibitory
factors which will yield false negative results. NAAT/PCR
will also replicate dead microorganisms, thus providing false
positive results.
The FluoroQuik system detects enzymes, and enzymes are only produced by live viable organisms. Therefore, a false positive result should not occur and the results can be obtained within minutes of obtaining a sample.
Other diagnostic products on the market that are point of care
oriented utilize a system called lateral flow (similar to
pregnancy tests). Lateral flow tests are not considered
accurate. For example, tests for Chlamydia average between
50% to 65% in accuracy.
The diagnostic method of utilizing enzyme detection is highly
accurate as the substrates utilized in the FluoroQuik assays are
specific to the target organism.
For the medical industry, the FluoroQuik system will analyze
samples taken with a swab, or from blood, urine, or sputum.
Again, the results are available within 5 minutes.
